Kristin Kunc: Beauty Above & Beneath the Surface
Kristin Künc’s current solo exhibition at Dacia Gallery delves deep into the feminine perspective and questions prevalent ideals, roles, and expectations.
Kristin Künc’s solo exhibition “Surface Beauty” opened July 10 at Dacia Gallery in New York City, and features 12 paintings that represent a thoroughly modern female perspective. The topical issues explored by this bold body of work address contemporary gender roles, societal pressures associated with the feminine ideal, and the psychological challenges women caught in this cycle face. Interestingly, Künc paints these heavy ideas with a comparatively soft hand and palette, in an almost ironic yielding to the very presumptions she is exposing.
